This Week: Rich Frevert from the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony
Rich Frevert, who is the Executive Director of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony, will be our presenter this week. Mr. Frevert has been the executive director of the symphony since 2018. He earned his bachelor of music education and master’s in business administration degrees from the University of Northern Iowa in 1978 and 1983, respectively. He also served as manager of the symphony in the 1970s. Mr. Frevert has worked for the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Lincoln (Neb.) Symphony Orchestra and Springfield (Mass.) Symphony Orchestra. He also owned and operated Heartland Concert Artists, a Minneapolis-based booking agency for jazz, classical and pop musicians. Rich also has taught private trumpet lessons in the Twin Cities, in addition to being a fundraiser in the health care and academic fields. Rich is married to his wife, Susan, and they have two adult children. In his spare time, Rich is a golfer, history buff, and an avid baseball fan.
Reminder deadline for donating for the House Of Hope Valentines gift bags is February 10th at Wednesday's meeting. The plan is to give them to House Of Hope on Friday so please try to donate so we can make the women of House Of Hope's day. As of now we have $20 donated and 3 bags of small gift items. We have 19 bags to fill...I will state again. $20 donations...3 bags of gifts...19 bags to fill. I will be at Tony's around 5 PM Wednesday so come early and enjoy adding to someone's Valentine's day joy by helping put together the gift bags.
March Vets Dinner
Every year we have the Vets Dinner but due to the pandemic we are having to rethink our efforts to add value to local veterans. Please feel free to send any ideas to Tom Marquez to consider as we plan our March service. Thank you.
The February Board meeting will immediately follow our regular meeting. Everyone is welcome to join and be a part of the discussion.
What you missed last week:
Last week Yolondo Loveless joined us from Blackhawk Country Veterans Affairs to share what his office does to enhance and improve the lives of veterans in our community. This includes assisting with claims, pensions , burial/cemetery benefits, VA health enrollment, Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment, Educational Assistance, Utilities and Bills, and Shelter and Housing. They also provide veterans gas cards and transportation assistance and more to make sure veterans in our community are getting their needs met . He also shared with us 2021 initiatives and coming events. We thank Yolondo for speaking with us and for all he does to help those who truly put service above self.
Rotary is not just a club you join. It is an invitation to endless opportunities.
