This Week: Our Very Own Glynis Worthington
Glynis is going to share how she became Mrs. Cedar Valley that has lead her to the upcoming Mrs. America Pageant.  Did you know all of her competition outfits come from Goodwill!  She will share some of her shopping tips with us as well.  Glynis will also be discussing the work she has been doing for LED Brighter Communities.

Are you a veteran?  Is a member of your family a veteran?   Is a member of your family serving on active duty at this time?

As part of  Marching with Veterans, we would like to highlight the stories of veterans and service personnel associated with our club.
Please send your stories and a photo to Wendy Bowman at Wknapp9@gmail.com.  Please ask your family member for their permission.

Other ways to participate in Marching with Veterans service project:

  • Donate a $25 gift card to a local business to be given to Black Hawk County Veterans Affairs
  • Donate cash to the club to purchase gift cards

You are encouraged to use your online store along with the paper forms to sell Butter Braids BUT do not enter duplicate information, don't enter your paper orders using the online form. Paper forms must be turned in by 3/8 but your online store remains active until 3/10. Butter Braid pick up is 3/26. Sellers deliver to the buyer. Thank you for your support.
March Volunteering Opportunity
Orchard Hill Elementary is looking for volunteers for March 26th from 2:30 PM - 3:15 PM to help pick up and organize with their fundraiser butter braid orders.
Are you interested in leading our club into the future?

We are currently looking for Rotarians to take on leadership roles for the 2021-2022 Rotary year.  There are Board positions that will be opening up and you could be the right person for the job!  Please contact Tom Marquez or Cynthia Gitta if you are interested, or would like more details.

What you missed last week:
Last week we had Travis Tolliver from the Waverly Chamber of Commerce to share with us what the chamber does to bring new businesses to the area and to support and encourage Waverly business owners , as well as work to increase standard of living in the Waverly area. The chamber has been busy since the advent of Covid-19 with a variety of virtual supports including a business resource page, a spreadsheet of local businesses, and a reopening toolkit for local businesses to help business owners work within current guidelines. They have also had a variety of retail events for businesses and had socially distant and virtual events including a virtual art walk, drive in movies, and a pumpkin carving contest. They have also featured local community leaders in their "Common Grounds" webinar series. He also shared some of the chamber's goals for the next year including increasing social media presence, adding additional wayfinding signage, and more community events.  We thank Travis for speaking with us and all he does to make Waverly a great place to live and to visit!

Rotary Opens Opportunities
Rotary is not just a club you join. It is an invitation to endless opportunities. It opens opportunities to serve in a project as big and historic as End Polio Now and also in a small community project, where you just plant a tree. It opens opportunities for you to live a richer, more meaningful life, with friends around the world, based on our core values. Everything we do opens another opportunity for someone, somewhere.
The 2020-2021 theme is: Rotary Opens Opportunities.
